The Snug

The snug was originally going to be enclosed as we thought it would be cheaper to heat in the winter. It was also the last room to be completed, so even when the lounge and dining areas were finished and being used, we would avert our gaze from the bags of concrete, pallets and other construction bits that inhabited the space. I finally got to unroll my eBay bargain of 12ft x 12ft rug, only to find it too damaged, but after inspiration, it was fine on the reverse! An enormous sideboard buffet was effectively swapped for a large Canadian canoe we had been given, and had found far too large for the Dronne weirs (another story), and moved into place with difficulty with “The Jan (everyone needs a Jan)” at one end and three of us at the other! Then a table top repurposed and painted, plus 3 legs from a damaged chest, (the original table legs were made onto a lampstand - see if you can spot it), plus two conservatory sofas. The only things we bought new were two metal bookcases. Lights were eBay and repurposed brocante finds.
