The birth of Le Capinet…

…our maison secondaire near Bourdeilles

In the beginning - there was a dream. There’s always a dream. This is an introduction to our project to renovate a farmhouse and barn in the truly stunning village of Bourdeilles in the Périgueux region of the Dordogne. Initially conceived as a potential holiday home and gîte business, or a B&B, the evolution of the project meant that the final home that emerged was too loved to be a commercial enterprise. So, Le Capinet is a beautiful standing testament to all the hard work, craftsmanship and creativity invested over the almost decade since we bought it (and it’s very nearly finished).

Budget….!!?

As always, the budget (what budget?!) was exceeded, but we genuinely have no regrets on any of it, even the swimming pool, with its special stone surface and “Helen’s Steps”. We now have a beautiful 5 bedroom (all en-suite) holiday home with lots of living and chillin’ space, in a stunning village, to be shared and enjoyed whenever we can, with family and friends.
